HARRAHS EYES INTERNET FOR WSOP
Casino gambling giant Harrahs Entertainment Inc. the owner of the trademarked World Series of Poker is mulling over taking the WSOP brand to the internet in the United Kingdom and Europe.
Internet gambling is on the rise especially in the UK and EU where it is legal to play poker online. Gary Thompson the WSOP tournament spokesman was quoted as saying Harrahs would be studying the legal landscape before deciding on whether to continue pursing internet poker. There appears to be no legal encumbrances that could deter the WSOP from engaging in the WSOP internet brand but that will be the final decision of the Harrah Entertainment Group.
In the lucrative online poker market it would make sense that the next step for these forward thinking US casino giants would be to begin taking their brand to the internet. Especially the WSOP which has garnered world attention through its televised tournament over the past few years.
