California May Legalize Online Poker
Senator Rob Wright of California has introduced legislation that would create an interstate poker network for Californians to play poker online legally. With the projected debt of 19 billion at the end of the next fiscal year, Wright wants to take advantage of the massive tax revenues from the online poker industry. Although a welcome concept for poker players in California it would also make it illegal for anyone in California to play poker online anywhere else.
There are concerns that the government approved online poker room would have a massive impact on the Tribal run land based casinos and as well the online poker room affiliates. The bill is currently in the California State Senate and most likely will go through many versions before becoming law.
