Admission Changes to WPT
New changes to the admission rules at the WPT are allowing late registration right up until the ninth 90 minute level of Day 2 and with that players will receive the orginal stack of 60k chips. Although the blinds will have increased to 600/1200 its still a sizable starting stack.
Bellagio tournament director Jack McClelland acknowledges that they have always taken buy-ins up until the 4th level but the higher limit players would rather start the tournament at higher levels rather than plugging about at 50/100 blinds. This change was implemented to encourage the bigger players to come in.
Professional player Daniel Negreanu thinks its an excellent idea where as Jason Mercier thinks the late buys could be disasterous.
