5 CARD DRAW RULES
Draw poker is the Grand-Daddy of all poker. It is the most basic of poker games and definitely the place to start when beginning your online poker journey. Basically Draw Poker is played by the player building a hand from 5 cards. After the initial betting round a player may discard some or all of their cards and receive new cards. A player should never reveal his cards until the final showdown. During Draw Poker, all cards are dealt and discarded face down. The most important thing to learn before playing Online Draw Poker are the poker hands and there ranking.
The Ante
Once a dealer is designated and he shuffles the deck. Each player must "ante up". This is the small fee paid into the pot which gives the player the right to play in this hand. No ante means no play. Once everyone antes up the dealer deals one card at a time, face down to each player beginning to his immediate left. The dealer continues to deal around the table until each player has all 5 of his cards.
Pass, Bet or Fold
Each player then looks at their cards and assesses their hand. The player to the dealers immediate left opens the betting round by placing a bet, passing or folding their hand.
Call and Raise
The player to the immediate left of the opening bettor now has the chance to bet or fold. If the opener passed then they may pass also or place a bet of their own. If other players have bet and they wish to remain in the game they must call the bet. This means they must match any outstanding bets. They may at this time also raise a bet. This process continues around the table until the bet returns to and includes the dealer. After the dealer has placed their bet, the players must call any outstanding bets or fold their hand. No raises are permitted after the betting round has passed to the dealer.
Discarding
After the initial betting round is completed players may discard any or all of their cards. This is done so a player has the opportunity to build a better hand. All cards that are discarded must be done so face down.
Replacement Cards
The dealer may now deal each player their replacement cards starting to the immediate left of him. All replacement cards are also dealt face down. Once the replacement cards are dealt, the player to the immediate left of the dealer begins the second round of betting and this proceeds around the table until it returns to and includes the dealer. The Dealer gets the final raise and each player must either Call or Fold their hand.
Showdown
After the final round of betting is complete and there are still more than one player at the table the showdown begins. Each player must reveal their hand and the highest hand wins the pot.
